Sustainability, a pure profit!

Sustainafilm at Gothenburg Film Festival 2024

Last week, Sustainafilm had an exhilarating time at the Gothenburg Film Festival!

The festival featured a series of insightful seminars, including "Rena vinsten med hållbar film - Filmforum Sverige", and "Pioneering Nordic Sustainability - Nordic Film Market". These sessions brought together industry experts, filmmakers, and sustainability advocates to explore the changing landscape of sustainable practices within the film industry.

The seminars emphasized the benefits of integrating sustainability into film production, highlighting how environmentally conscious practices could not only contribute to a healthier planet but also result in financial and strategic advantages for the film projects. One particular seminar at the Gothenburg Film Festival, “Rena vinsten med hållbar film”, or “ Pure profit with sustainable filmmaking”, showcased a case study investigating the economic cost of integrating sustainability practices on a film set. The sustainability study, based on a previously completed film, found economic benefits in waste management, LED light usage, vegetarian catering, and the usage of electric cars. This study was conducted by Tess Hammer and Maikol Petersen on behalf of Film i Väst, Film Stockholm, Film i Skåne, Filmpool Nord and Film på Gotland.

As the film industry continues to evolve, the collaboration between sustainability and film productions plays an important role in shaping a more environmentally conscious and economically viable future for filmmakers. Specializing in sustainable solutions tailored to the film industry, we at Sustainafilm are thrilled to be part of this remarkable journey to reform the future of film. We are excited to see what the future holds and extend our gratitude to the Gothenburg Film Festival for organizing such an exceptional event!
